Face and 2-D mesh animation in MPEG-4

چکیده
This paper presents an overview of some of the synthetic visual objects supported by MPEG-4 version-1, namely animated faces and animated arbitrary 2-D uniform and Delaunay meshes. We discuss both specification and compression of face animation and 2D-mesh animation in MPEG-4. Face animation allows to animate a proprietary face model or a face model downloaded to the decoder. We also address integration of the face animation tool with the text-to-speech interface (TTSI), so that face animation can be driven by text input.

Feature Point Based Mesh Deformation Applied to MPEG-4 Facial Animation
Robustness and speed are primary considerations when developing deformation methodologies for animatable mesh objects. The goal of this paper is to present such a robust and fast geometric mesh deformation algorithm. The algorithm is feature points based i.e. it can be applied to enable the animation of various mesh objects defined by the placement of their feature points. As a specific applica...
متن کاملReal-time MPEG-4 facial animation with 3D scalable meshes
In this paper the complete framework of a software package for real-time animation of 3D facial models according to the MPEG-4 specifications is described. The focus is mainly on the algorithmic solution that has been adopted for scaling the polygon mesh to a level of complexity suited to the specific hw/sw profile of the platform that hosts the decoder. The basic functionality of this system i...
متن کاملPhysically Based Synthesis of Animatable Face Models
We propose a physically based method to automatize the synthesis process of talking heads able to perform animation encoded in a MPEG-4 FBA stream. Starting from an input triangle mesh, we build the corresponding anatomical face model using techniques already known in literature. The novelty of our method is in using these techniques with the MPEG-4 FBA specification. The components of the anat...
متن کاملFacial motion cloning with radial basis functions in MPEG-4 FBA
Facial Motion Cloning (FMC) is the technique employed to transfer the motion of a virtual face (namely the source) to a mesh representing another face (the target), generally having a different geometry and connectivity. In this paper, we describe a novel method based on the combination of the Radial Basis Functions (RBF) volume morphing with the encoding capabilities of the widely used MPEG-4 ...
متن کاملMultiresolution Watermarking for MPEG-4 2D Mesh Animation
Although watermarking techniques have been extensively developed for natural videos, little progress is made in the area of graphics animation. Following the former successful MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 coding standards that provide efficient representations of natural videos, the emerging MPEG-4 standard incorporates new coding tools for 2D mesh animation. Graphics animation information is crucial for ...
